    Bischoff knows that Sting was on Nitro for pretty much all of 97 right? The way he tells the story about how Sting walked in and saw that he had not worked out or tanned, made it seem like he hadn’t seen the guy for a year.

    The biggest wasted opportunity and stupidest decision in wrestling history. Sting was the most over that a wrestler had ever been and no one ever had more heat than anyone before. 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring. Done and over. That was the only answer and WCW f’ed it royally

    Even if they stuck with the original finish of a fast count, that’s still a 💩 finish. Hogan just couldn’t put the guy over clean

    It was a mistake to have Hogan lose at all that night. The nWo was only a year in, it was the hottest thing in wrestling and you wanna end it with Sting getting the belt? Sting had already held the title before, and where was WCW then?....They should have had Hogan beat Sting, then feud with Bret Hart.

  • @reallymakesyouthink
    @reallymakesyouthink 3 дні тому

    WM14 Shawn didn't want to lose to Austin but they made him so their biggest star could get the belt. Starcade needed Sting to get his moment but they let Hogan pull his tricks and ruin the finish. The difference between the companies and why one succeeded over the other.

    I remember reading an interview or maybe watching something, but back in the day when Harley Race was NWA champ, he would get the ref to show him in the dressing room the cadence of how he counts, likely to set up a fraction of a section kick out --- and probably to protect himself in the case of a double-cross. Sting seems like the type to "go along to get along," but, if it was someone that was more of a ring general who could sense when something seemed "off" --- Piper as an example -- he probably could have kicked out and change the finish in the ring without reprecussions. There was probably a Plan B? potentially if something went wrong? And really,, if Sting did sense something and change the finish, what would WCW do? Fire Sting? He was their 1"B" babyface then (tied with Goldberg or close enough to him in terms of popularity).
